Server Side Includes (SSI)

• SSI allows you to place a directive tag (a command) into an HTML file and have it parsed by the server as it is retrieved

• Also known as "Parsed HTML"

• Usually, files you want to be parsed will have a different extension: .shtml

  • Although you could parse all .html files, this isnot usually advisable due to performance
